I wanted to start contributing to this project, but I noticed the demo project could use some updates. This PR aims to make it usable again and instantly get new contributors up and running. The commits are in [conventional commits](https://www.conventionalcommits.org/en/v1.0.0/) format and can be merged to master without squashing, if so desired.
